Ali Guli Mane is an ancient Indian mathematical strategy board game originated from South regions of India. It is known as Chenne Mane in Tulunaadu (Coastal Karnataka), Akal Patta in North Karnataka , Satkoli (सत्कोलि) in Maharashtra, Vamana guntalu (in Telugu) and Kuzhipara (in Malayalam)

·         The name of the game, like that of many mancala games across the world, is simply a description of the board used: it means a "wooden block with holes". There are also similarities with the traditional Malyasian  game Congkak.

·         Alaguli Mane is a must-have game for any home. It is perfect for rainy days or lazy afternoons. This Stunning  board game is encouraged for the kids to learn to count, to improve eye–hand coordination and concentration while playing.

Steps -

1. Ali Guli Mane uses two rows of 7 holes each. Gulahanji, Kavade shells or tamarind seeds are used as game pieces. It is played by two players. Each player "owns" the row of holes closest to them.

2. The game starts with minimum 70 pieces/shells with 5, 7 or 12 in each hole.

3. One starts playing by choosing any one house of his/her side and pick all shell in it and start putting shells, one in each house in anti-clock direction. once it is over then pick shells from next house/hole and continue shifting shells in anti clock direction it is continued till you get empty house/hole. then wipe the empty hole and pick/collect the shells in the next  house /hole and the opposite house /hole on other side.

4. Now other player starts playing by choosing any one house on their side and start playing as mentioned above, after getting empty house/hole the other player starts there game, it is continued till all house/hole gets empty .

5. if there exists house/hole with 4 shells, it is called as carew, then the person on that side should collect it , if  they miss to take on that round they are not allowed to take it .

6. Now both players should put the collected shells, 5 in each house/hole on their side, the one who had got more shells should hold the additional seeds aside, the one gets shortage in filling the shell, then that house/hole should be kept empty. This is called as becoming pauper, means the player had lost one house/hole, the empty house/hole will not be used for playing , place any other thing like paper / leaves just for indicating the house is not to be used for playing on that round till all house/holes gets empty.

7. Now restart playing the game , this time the player who started game in the previous round should play at second. game is continued as previous  procedure

8. Game is continued till anyone of the player loose all house/hole and become pauper or can end after one/two round by considering the highest shell collected player as the winner.
